Rhinedorf German Valentines Extreme
Oh yeah BABY! I have the best boy ever. Period.
He decided to take me out for a special super secret valentines meal. I knew nothing, he orgainised the whole deal. To start off the night we went for two game, shoe hire at AMF ten pin bowling in Randwick. Which was fun! Hehehhe and I beat him eh eh ehhhh. First time we had tried ten pin bowling teogether, we have played lawn bowls quite a few times.
Then we began the trek to the restaurant, this was fun! I knew the suburb Beverly Hills(not 90210) but not the restaurant. But I got to ask lots of questions. “It is different” Casey declared. But I was too busy getting psyched. So we arrive and I am calling out Restaurant names left and right, the I see it and I know. Rhinedorf! Yep! Woohoo German Food!
There is one problem with eating out in BH’s the parking, I just want you to be prepared. Because after this you know you will go LOL
So we arrive, and sit down. We are immediatly struck by the surroundings, it is kitschy but warm and nice nice. One of the reasons that Casey wanted to bring me here was becuase of the beer. Uhuh and very reasonalby priced it is too. Casey started off with the Köstritzer($6 for 500mls) which is an unusual dark beer, neither an ale or a stout but smooth and coffeey. Dad, you have to try this beer!
We decided that we would share the whole meal so that we would get the best idea what the food was like. We shared an Aal ($10.5o) which was Smoked Eel on pumpernickle for an entree, the eel was fresh and sweet. I kept thinking this would make a great lunch.
Casey wanted a dumpling ($3.5o)
I had the Rinder Rouladen ($19.50) beef roll stuffed with bacon, onion and gerhkins with a red wine and mustard sauce and red cabbage with Spaetzle. What can I say? The beef was tender and so flavourful. The cabbage perfect the Spaetzle were nice. We were very happy. But the star of the meal is yet to come.
The Schweinehaxen this is it baby. A pork knuckle slow roasted with beer and herbs, with sides of sauerkraut, pan fried potatoes and gravy ($20.50) This has to be the star of the meal, the pork had a crispy outside with a meltingly tender inside, and HUGE. We will be revisiting this beast again.
After such a great meal, we still decided to share a dessert and I got to have a Gletscher Eis ($5.50) a citrus flavoured blue schnapps. This stuff is good! Really good actually and we will be keeping our eyes peeled for a bottle of this.
But of course there must always be cake. We shared the BlackForest Torte ($5.50) a homemade torte thatwas fresh and delcious.
This meal was great, the food was delicious and homely and the service was friendly and warm. I heartly recommend this restaurant especially when the weather cools back down. For anymore information please view their website http://www.rhinedorf.com.au
