The weekend of excess part1
When I found out that Rachel and Richard (RnR) were coming to Sydney for the weekend, I was very happy yet odly scared. When we worked out the details and figured out that we would be not only going out for dinner, but for lunch the next day I knew where my fears had surfaced from. My belly, my butt, and my thighs. Oh boy. The reason of course is that this would end up being a huge massivly fun weekend of excess and I was so right. See all these pics below? They are only from one night. Uhuh.
Like any elite athlete, I took to preparing for the weekend seriously. I uped my excersie and ensured that Casey and I had a week of protein and salads. Then on the Saturday, (the day in question) first thing in the morning I performed 45 mins of cardio, then a long walk then a coffee and a nectarine and nothing else to eat. This may seem alittle excessive, but I think I still should have done more LOL. By 5pm when RnR showed up, I was hungrey, no, really hungrey but I had to wait alittle longer to satiate myself as their weekend of excess had already begun. We decided that we wanted to try and have Singaporian in Paramatta, but we weren’t the only ones. Every other person with taste in Paramatta had decided the same thing. So we moved on unperturbed. We were going to have Indian, but we couldn’t wait that long, so we decided to emulate Kirk so we could show him some “Aussie” chain mexican. Montezumas.

We started off with the Sangria and Nachos, the Sangria was yummy but oddly lacking in the requisite chunks of fresh fruit. The Nachos were nice, but there was not nearly enough chips for the amount of sauce, so we had to get a basket of extra chips as well. *Note* I just found a voucher for a free half nachos if you order 2 mains
This is the Montezumas revenge, and the dish of choice for Rachel. It is supposed to be a tostada with meat, beans and salad. The crunchy tortilla had been turned into an unappetising blob by the time that Rachel reached it though.
Casey had Tacos and Taquitos. He loved the Taquitos and was not impressed by the tacos at all. I have asked for clarification, but none is forth coming.
Richard had the Tamale Pie, and I think he liked it. He also made sure to show off the Sol, the latest Mexican beer import to Australia.
I had the Chicken and Chorizo Enchalada and of course I orded the best meal of all
I am just talented like that
. By the time my meal arrived I was so very hungry. The flavour was good though not spicy at all. We ordered a ranchero salsa to acompany the meal (the hottest they had) and it was pretty warm, but really not that hot. One thing to note is the cheese, there was so so so much cheese on these Enchiladas, the rice was simple and greatly improved by a huge dab of salsa. The beans were plain but nice. One thing I noticed was that the meals were not very nicely presented, for $19 I want my plate to not have splatters and the food to look puerty! Overall the meals was good, but for $80 for 4 (not including drinks) I think we definately could have done better, but we enjoyed ourselves alot especially since the company was so much fun.
We then pretty much walked straight out the door and into the Cold Rock a couple of stores up. Casey and I shared Rum and Raisin with caramel fudge and Kit Kat addins (In a regular) and RnR had the Ferrero with??? um not sure… But these were nice, plus it is fun to stand around and choose your ice cream flavour, acouple of mix ins and watch them mash them up on the cold rock (a long bench of cold marble). We took this time to enjoy a digestive aid as in a long walk along the banks of the Paramatta river becuase our night was not over yet. We were up for our most excessive part yet.

Since we were in Rachels old haunt of Parramatta we took her advice and went to Heart to Heart a lebanese sweet restauant located in Merrylands, we decided to get a whole selection of different sweets and share them between the four of us. I had a real hankering for a coffee but they only had italian and not greek or turkish style *humph*, so Rachel and I decided to get cold drinks instead, and we got flat whites for the Boys.

When we ordered our Cold drinks, I asked the server what a Mulberry Toot was, I was told it was a Toot. What does it taste like? A toot. Uhuh, ok then… Is it nice though I asked? Yes it is good she replied, so I decided to go hard and get the Toot. Rachel had the rose drink. The rose drink was nice, very sweet and rosey. The mulberry toot though was better, not toosweet but very refreshing, which is just what you need on a hot summers night especially when contemplating even more excess in the form of sweet lebanese treats.

This is the ladies finger and it was definately Rachels fav, nice and crunchy and nutty ![]()

This is the kings crown. It was good, I thought the pistachios on the inside were alittle too toasted but the ones on top were sticky and caramelly yum! This was definately Richards favourite.

This one we had last and really had over indulged so I don’t think we gave it a fair trial, I can’t remember what it was called but it was full of cashew cream

These were different Mamouls. A mamoul seems to be a biscuit with a nutty or datey filling. They were nice and I really liked the one toped with icing sugar, the dark was was a real date cake LOL. I have had these before stuffed with pisatchios and orange flower water and that is what I was hoping for, but they weren’t it. I will have to look on!

This is sweet chesse, it is made from milk, cream and semolina and comes with an orange blossom syrup. This was a suprise, the serving was huge and I don’t think I could ever finish it myself but it ended up being really addictive, Rachel and I think it has something to do with the texture which is alittle chewy and stringy. Definately something you have to try at least once in your life.
Rachel really wanted to try a hookha but we just couldn’t go get up the guts to ask for one. Instead we decided to go for another constitutional around the block.
Thus ends night one of the CnC, RnR weekend of excess. Stay tuned for part duex.
