Druing the week, I took my parents to Ichi Ban Boshi whilst they were Christmas Shopping in Sydney. I really wanted to take my dad as he has been itching to try a Ramen ever since he saw the movie Tampopo. I tried to bring him here a few weeks ago but the line was tremendous and there was no way he would wait for a table *sigh*. I think this is the first thing you need to know if you want to go here, if you go at the traditional lunch hour expect to wait for a table . Luckily when we went on Monday there was no line as we went after the rush had finished YAY!

It took alittle while to help my parents decided what they wanted to eat. Funnily enough my father didn’t have a Ramen but a Salmon Don instead. For $12 he received a bowl of Miso soup, which he enjoyed and a large bowl of japanese rice with furikake fresh salmon slices, cucumber, pickled ginger and wasabi. A side salad of potaoes was also served. I didn’t manage to get my camera out fast enough to get a photo but he really enjoyed it.

For me however, there was no way I was not going to have a Ramen, I chose the Kim Chi Ramen for $9.

This baby is big, really big, and most importantly delicious. The roast pork melts in your mouth and the broth is well flavoured and tastes “balanced to me so that all the flavours meld perfectly together to form a delicious broth. There is no way I could eat all of this, but I gave it a good shot ;)

To drink (if you know me you wont be at all suprised I ordered this ;) ) I ordered the Iced Green Tea Cappucino for $4.50

My mother thought this was expensive, but I think this is a reasonable price as it is on a par with what you pay for an Iced Coffee in Sydney. Except, this is much tastier. They don’t skimp on the matcha and they serve the sugar syrup on the side, I like! If you are in the CBD go have one while the weather is hot YUM!!

My mother was not quite as brave, and was scared by the pork broth and roast pork in the soups so she bravely chose the Vegetable Ramen

This looks like the soft option right? Actually, I tried hers and the broth and the vegetables were really tasty. It makes a slightly lighter option and is perfect for vegertarians YAY! I convinced her to try my broth so we made progress ;)

I definately recommend Ichi Ban Boshi!

Note: I have been here 3 times and the food and service were fantastic each time

Don’t forget to bake your Stollen!
